Dear Delegates,

I am pleased to write to you and introduce myself as the new Secretary-General of EUROTOX.  I am honored to continue to serve EUROTOX and help carry out the activities and initiatives defined by the Executive Committee.

In this communication, I would like to address the following on-going projects discussed during two important events held at  the 2025 EUROTOX Congress in Athens.

Strategy Meeting in Athens: Final Report

Thank you to all delegates participating in the Strategy Meeting held in Athens, September 14, 2025. We had more than 40 delegates, from 25 societies, including the IM delegate,  in attendance.  Thanks to your participation in the group break out sessions, and the input from delegates more than 15 activities were identified to improve the communication and engagement between societies and EUROTOX.

We want to share with all delegates, as well as representatives from national societies unfortunately that were unable to join us, the  report from MCI, who facilitated the event.

We are pleased with the outcome of this meeting, as it serves as the foundation for a stronger collaboration.

Furthermore, other key accomplishments include:

  • Honest assessment of current communications
  • Identified specific barriers and opportunities
  • Generated 15+ innovative solutions
  • Committed to 3 immediate priorities
  • Created actionable plans with clear ownership

As a next step, the EUROTOX Executive Committee will review the key findings, and develop an action plan that strengthens and enhances our current communication strategic planning.

Finally, we want to thank members that have indicated their interest to serve as champions and/or be part of the supporting team. Volunteering to be a contact person and resource in the development of our action plan will be of great help, and we truly appreciate your contribution. We will certainly be reaching out to you as we begin to implement our plan.

EUROTOX Documents: Consultation

As agreed during the 2025 Business Council Meeting (BCM25) held in Athens, September 16, 2025, delegates have the opportunity to consult EUROTOX documents shown below, and submit any comments prior to ratification.

All comments to the proposed documents must be submitted online using the respective links.

We ask that delegates review this document and provide comments by November 30. 2025.

The final version of the document will be posted online by December 1, 2025.

Delegates will be invited to cast their votes after this date. According to operational guidelines, 2/3 of casted votes are necessary for ratification.

2026 Call for Nominations

Help us foster toxicology both scientifically and educationally across Europe by submitting nominations of outstanding candidates to engage in EUROTOX activities and awards. Support the acknowledgment of outstanding professionals in toxicology by nominating candidates for the following awards and activities:

EUROTOX AWARDS

  • 2026 EUROTOX MERIT AWARD recognises a distinguished and enduring lifetime contributions to European toxicology. Individuals (from academia, industry and regulatory) selected for this award have made significant contributions in all aspects of toxicology, particularly service, education and research, and have achieved European recognition based on their professional accomplishments and distinguished career.
  • 2026 EUROTOX LECTURE recognises scientists who have made outstanding scientific contributions to the science of drug and chemical toxicology, or related areas. Nominations should be active, mid-career scientists involved in toxicology research in the public or private sector that are making substantial and innovative scientific contributions in the field of toxicological sciences.

 

EUROTOX COMMITTEE 

  • NOMINATION  - Nominate members (1 slot) to serve in the committee and propose candidates to hold office in the Executive Committee.
  • SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS - Nominate members to develop and implement approved initiatives in the various EUROTOX Sub Committees: Education (3 slots) and Registration (1 slot) Some slots against possible incumbents.

 

2030 Congress Bid 

Want to make a significant contribution to your local scientific community? Then, consider hosting the 2030 congress! Member Societies wishing to make a bid to host the 2030 EUROTOX congress should request the guidelines how to prepare the letter of intent directly by contacting the EUROTOX Secretariat (email: secretariat@eurotox.com).

LAST CALL FOR SCIENTIFIC PROPOSALS FOR 2026 VIENNA - Deadline is November 15, 2025

Calling all scientific and industry partners to submit a scientific proposal before November 15.

EUROTOX2026 is “Toxicology without borders” will arrive to Vienna September 13-16, 2026, for the 60th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology. Don't miss the opportunity to be part of EUROTOX's historic 60th Congress Anniversary Celebration, and present your research to a wider audience.

LAST CALL FOR EARLY CAREER EXCHANGE PROGRAM (ECEP) - Deadline is November 30, 2025

Know any early career researchers interested in additional training? ECEP fosters career development by providing support to talented and ambitious early career researchers to get an additional experience in toxicology. 

A grant in the amount of € 1,000 will be awarded to five successful applicants to cover travel expenses and/or accommodation and other costs associated with visiting the host.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn new scientific techniques, approaches to data analysis and gain regulatory knowledge, establish new collaborations and experience different working cultures and research environments.
