Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART)
The creation of a Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology Speciality Section (DART SS) strengthens scientific exchange, collaboration, and training in this critical and rapidly evolving area of toxicology.
Developmental and reproductive toxicology plays a central role in protecting human health by improving our understanding of how chemicals and environmental exposures affect fertility, pregnancy, and early-life development. Advances in new approach methodologies (NAMs), regulatory science, and mechanistic toxicology are rapidly reshaping this field, creating a clear need for a dedicated forum within the Society.
Establishing a DART SS will:
• Provide a focal point for members working in reproductive and developmental toxicology
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across academia, industry, and regulatory sectors
• Support knowledge exchange on emerging scientific and regulatory developments
• Strengthen training and mentoring opportunities for early-career scientists
• Promote harmonisation and best practices in DART research and risk assessment
DART SS Activities
• Organising conference sessions, workshops, and webinars
• Developing training and educational resources
• Supporting networking and mentorship initiatives
• Identifying emerging research priorities and regulatory needs
• Facilitating collaboration with related national and international initiatives
The DART SS will enhance EUROTOX's scientific breadth, increase member engagement, and reinforce its leadership in advancing modern toxicology and risk assessment. It strategically aligns with EUROTOX's mission to promote scientific excellence, innovation, and education across all areas of toxicology.
