Early Career Forum kicks off at EUROTOX 2024: Highlights and Opportunities
Day 1: Connecting and Sharing Ideas
For the first day of the congress, we designed a poster introducing us, our mission, our values, and our plans for the future. We also encouraged early career researchers to share their ideas and wishes for future ECF activities. Some great suggestions were made, and their implementation is currently under discussion. In addition to our poster, we also organized poster walkarounds, where early career researchers had the chance to present their own poster, receive feedback and learn essential skills for poster design and presentation. Day 2: Networking and Career Insights
On the second day, we joined a great Early Career Networking Event organized by the Danish Society of Engineers IDA. During this event, four researchers were sharing their career experience from choosing the right Ph.D. to switching from academia to industry, and vice versa. Also, one member of the ECF, Danilo, joined the panel discussion, sharing personal insights and answering interesting questions from the audience. The event was a great opportunity to find out more about all the diverse career paths in toxicology.
Day 3: Exploring Copenhagen Together
On the final evening, we brought together a group of early career researchers to enjoy a dinner at Nyhavn. Strolling through the city center, we enjoyed passing by several of Copenhagen’s iconic landmarks along the way. Despite the brisk Danish weather (and a need for all the restaurants’ blankets!), the evening was filled with vibrant conversations, laud laughter, and the warmth of shared experiences. It was definitely a fantastic way to cap off the congress while building connections with fellow toxicologists.
Looking Ahead: EUROTOX 2025 in Athens
We are already looking forward to the next EUROTOX congress 2025 in Athens. This time, we will organize a scientific session focused on inclusivity in scientific practice, featuring four early-career toxicologists.
We will also repeat the successful poster walkarounds. More activities will follow. Stay tuned - we can’t wait to see you there!
ECF in Copenhagen - Off to a great start!
