"We Stand with Ukraine" Statement

stand with ukraine

The Federation of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX) is shocked and dismayed by the events unfolding in Ukraine as a consequence of the Russian Federation’s invasion. We wish to express our full solidarity with our Ukrainian colleagues, the Ukrainian people and those caught up in the terrible events of the last few days.

The mission of EUROTOX is to promote the safety of humans, animals and the environment, and protect global health. We are scientists working together to debate and promote best practice and understanding within our discipline in a respectful and collegiate manner for the benefit of those communities we serve and represent. We cannot and will not accept this fundamental violation of human rights and international conventions by the Russian Federation.

The EUROTOX Executive Committee has therefore decided to suspend the Russian Society of Toxicologists’ membership of EUROTOX with immediate effect and until further notice. We have taken this decision with great regret since we know that it will affect fellow toxicologists, colleagues and friends who have no part in this war. We call on them to use what power of influence they may have to help stop this aggression against the people of Ukraine immediately.
